Farm Town is down? and other updates...

Farm Town is down? and other updates...

I received a couple of emails early today informing me that Farm Town on Facebook is down. I immediately logged on to my account and was able to get through Farm Town with no hassle at all. Maybe it was just the user's server that went down or there was a problem with the user's internet provider.

Farm Town has never been down since the last time we posted a news about it (click here to read the post), which is a good thing. And Slashkey has been upgrading Farm Town with more things to buy, more seeds to plants, and faster plowing and planting. Farm Town has gotten more interesting now because it no longer bores us while planting and plowing because of the speed.

Friends and Farm Town Neighbors
It's just recently that I noticed that the number of neighbors in Farm Town has a certain limit. I kept on adding friends as neighbors and lose some of my old neighbors. Hmmm. Maybe this is one thing that Slashkey should take into consideration. The number of neighbors must be unlimited to keep the first ones that we added as neighbors.

Thanks too for those who added me as friends in Facebook.

By the way, a friend of mine has started another interesting blog about Restaurant City. It's a pretty new blog and still not much entry but it's interesting. You may visit her blog at http://restaurantcitywaitress.blogspot.com

Is Facebook attacked by another malicious hack like what happened a couple of days ago? I'm just crossing my fingers. I've some fields to plow and plant in Farm Town and who can get through Farm Town if Facebook is down.

I hope this will not take long...

Facebook Farm Town Update - My new facebook account

I've messed up my personal Facebook account with my Farm Town account. Now, I have hundreds of Farm Town friends in my Facebook account who are also reading my personal and work-related posts.

While my Farm Town posts will surely interest friends I made out of my Farm Town blog, for sure those Farm Town friends will not be interested in posts about my personal life or work.
With this, I've decided to create another Facebook account exclusively for my Farm Town friends. This way, I can post only Farm Town related updates and nothing personal or work related.

For my friends in Farm Town, please add me up through nicky_shankar007@yahoo.co.in. That is my account for Farm Town related posts. You can also add me up as a neighbor although I would have to start a new farm using that new email account.

Back to level 1 but I'm doing this to ensure that my Farm Town friends in Facebook will only receive Farm Town related posts and updates and nothing about my ever so ordinary life.

Again, that's nicky_shankar007@yahoo.co.in for those who want to add me as a friend in Facebook and as a neighbor in Farm Town

Facebook Farm Town Update

Facebook Farm Town Update

Another update from the makers of Facebook's Farm Town.

Just this morning, I found out that there is now an option for us to plow four fields in just one click. There is also the option to plow one field or two fields in just one click. And the good thing is that we don't have to wait for the field to be completely plowed before we can click on another field. Yes, you can simply click on the fields that you want to plow and the avatar will simply plow them according to the sequence of your clicks.

And this one is the best - - -

We can now plant plowed fields quickly. Before, we have to wait for the field to be completely planted before we can plant another field. Now, we can simply click on the fields we want planted without waiting for the avatar to move. The avatar will simply plant the fields according to the sequence of our quick.

And here's another great update... as long as you have clicked on the field that will be planted, you can log off from Facebook and just let your avatar do its job without you watching. I've tested that. I've clicked on all the fields that needed planting and turned off my Internet connection. When I logged back in within 5 minutes, all my fields were already planted. Awesome!!!!

Farm Town really rocks!

If you happen to find out another update, please let me know so we can share them to everyone.

Happy farming all!

Starting my own Farm... inspired by Farm Town

Starting my own Farm... inspired by Farm Town

I had the chance to go back to the town for a short vacation and the road trip was awesomely breathtaking. It could be because I am a Farm Town addict but the sight of greeneries - farms, rice fields, coconuts, vegetable plantations - has inspired me a lot.

Inspired to start my own farm.

But then, I am just low-income guy and buying a piece of lot to turn into a farm is costly in this part of the planet.

I live in the tropical island of the Philippines - where coconut trees line up the roads to the towns, where ricefields roll into as far as the eyes can see, where farming remains the means of livelihood for the majority.

I have long wanted to have my own farm. A small one, i should say, where I can plant vegetables - eggplants, potato, cabbage, and carrots. I want an an organic farm, to veer away from the chemically-infested produce that are now in my country's market.

I hope I can make this reality come true. All I need is just a little help from you guys. You can donate $20 for this dream of mine. I know with the more than a thousand people reading this blog everyday, it will not be too long for me to get a small farm with your donation of $20 or more.

Can it be made real? Or am I barking at the moon? Let me know of your thoughts.

New Farm Town Seeds (Facebook Farm Town Update)

New Farm Town Seeds (Facebook Farm Town Update)

There are new seeds available in Farm Town but most of the seeds require a certain level for you to buy. The seeds are all available for me but my friends (and officemates) who are new to Farm Town said the new seeds are still locked.

Okay, here are the new seeds with their corresponding costs and harvest price:

Adding Farm Town Neighbors and Friends

Adding Farm Town Neighbors and Friends

To all who added me as friends in Facebook, thank you so much. To those who requested me to be their Farm Town neighbor, thank you very very much. I am now averaging 50 Farm Town neighbor requests per day and I hope Slashkey (the creator of Farm Town) will program an option that allows approval of Farm Town neighbors all at once and not individually.

Please be patient. I will approve your friend and neighbor request one by one. We will soon be neighbors in a few days.

If this is your first time to visit this blog, you may add me up as friend at FB and as a neighbor in FT using my email nicky_shankar007@yahoo.co.in. I love personal messages to please include some personal thoughts in your requests.... thanks!

Farm Town Farmers pay tribute to Michael Jackson

Farm Town Farmers pay tribute to Michael Jackson

If you are an active Farm Town farmer, please plant five tulips in your farm as our way of paying tribute to the king of pop, Michael Jackson. Please pass this on to your friends and announce this in your Facebook account.

If you have planted the five tulips, please fill up our comments form below and be counted.

Thanks.

Hire farmers to plow your fields (Facebook Farm Town Update)

Hire farmers to plow your fields (Facebook Farm Town Update)

For us who have been complaining of how tiresome it is to plow fields in our farm, Slashkey (the developer of Farm Town) has finally answered our prayers. Yes, now we can hire farmers to plow our harvested fields.

You can hire other farmers to plow fields at your farm. If you hire a neighbour, you save 50% of the cost, otherwise you save 25% of the cost. Farmers you hire will be able to plow every field in your farm that has been harvested previously.

Simply go to the market place and right click on any of the available farmers. Just like when you are hiring. And then click on the "Hire to Plow at Your Farm".

Farm Town has never been this easy.... hehehehe.

Facebook Farm Town Tips and Tricks (no cheats pls)

Facebook Farm Town Tips and Tricks (no cheats pls)

Other than the tips I've mentioned in my previous posts, I have not received interesting tips from you guys lately. Thanks to those who have emailed their tips but most of the tips have already been discussed in my previous posts.

Anyway, if you want to earn more experience points, don't rely on the plowing and planting activities alone. Buy trees, animals, fences, buildings, etc. because these items can give you a lot of experience points. A small house, for instance, can give you +1,000xp. If you have more than a million coins, buy three houses at 300,000 coins each. That will give you an instant +3,000xp, enough to send you to several levels.

Also, as mentioned in my previous posts, visit your neighbors regulary and work in their farm (clean up, water the garden, etc) to earn +6xp.

Please send me your tips and I will post them here. My email is nicky_shankar007@yahoo.co.in

How to add neighbours in Facebook's Farm Town

While working on her farm, my Farm Town neighbour Lesa asked me how she could add another Farm Town neighbour. I told her how and I thought I would also share it to those who still don't know how to add a Farm Town neighbour.

First, you should be Facebook friends with the person you want to add as a Farm Town neighbour. You can either add him/her as a Facebook friend or ask him/her to add you in Facebook.

The person you want to add as Farm Town neighbour must also be playing Farm Town. Only those who are Farm Town players can be your neighbours.

When you are on the "send gift" page of Farm Town (you will land on this page the moment you click on Farm Town), you can see a menu just below the Facebook Logo (see photo below).

Click on the "My Neighbours" button. You will be brought to a page that contains a list with photo of you Facebook friends who are playing Farm Town. Now you will have the option of adding them as Farm Town neighbour by simply clicking on the button that says "add as neighbour".

You will have to wait for your friend's confirmation before you can see him / her in your neighbour's list when you play Farm Town. Once you become neighbours, you can visit your friend's Farm and get additional coins and points by watering the farm or picking up leaves.
Thanks for reading.

And yeah, you can add as many neighbours as you want. The more the merrier. And yes, you can add me as your neighbor. My facebook email is nicky_shankar007@gmail.com

PS: Special thanks to those who have added me as friend in Facebook and as neighbours in Farm Town. Thanks so much. Love lots!

What's your Farm Town hiring preference?

What's your Farm Town hiring preference?

My Farm Town neighbor Senator Suey once asked me if I prefer hiring male avatars over female avatars in the marketplace. She said she sometimes changes her avatar to male because she gets hired more often under a male avatar.

I told her I prefer female avatars in the market place. I don't know exactly why but maybe my attraction to the opposite sex matters in choosing a farmer to harvest my crops. I really don't know that gender preference is becoming an issue in hiring a farmer from the marketplace.

What's your preference? Please share by posting a comment.

PS: Thanks to those who have added me as friend in their FB and as a neighbor in Farm town. I would like to apologize though that I cannot immediately approve a friend or a farm town neighbor due to the number of people who have added me on a daily basis. Don't worry, everyone will be approved in due time.

for those who want to add me as a neighbor in Farm Town, my email is nicky_shankar007@gmail.com

Facebook Friends, Farm Town Neighbors

Facebook Friends, Farm Town Neighbors

Please allow me to take this opportunity to thank all of those who added me as a friend in Facebook and to those who also added me as neighbor in Farm Town. I now have nearly a hundred friends and several Farm Town neighbors since I started this blog not too long ago.

There are still neighbor requests that I have not acted on because of the long list that I now have. I apologize. Please give me more time to manually accept you as my Farm Town neighbor. Rest assured, I will accept all of those who requested to by my neighbor in Farm Town.

Thank you so much everyone for your response.

Also, I was thinking early today about putting up a real farm (of course inspired by Farm Town) where I can plant organic crops. I hate it when I go to the market and realize that I am buying vegetables, crops, and fruits that have been sprayed on with chemicals.

My plan is to put up even a small farm with vegetables and crops and grow them organically. Whatever I harvest from the farm, I will share them with some charitable institutions here in my country.

But of course, I can not do this plan alone. I need help from people like you. To set it straight, the farm will only work through donations from around the world. I don't know if this will work. Please let me know what you think. If you are interested to help me in this plan or if this plan will work.

Thanks everyone!

SEEDS AND TREES
no updates to seeds and trees.

FLOWERS
Flowers are now available. Flowers are not for harvest. You just have to water them when their water indicator goes down. You can also hire other workers to water your flowers. Crown of Thorns, Carnation, Marigold, Tulips, and Lilies are initially available. Other flowers require higher level.

ANIMALS
I can't wait to get hold of a bull but it requires Level 31. My farm doesn't have animals but when the bull is ready, I would have to get some.

BUILDINGS
There are new buildings to choose from. Watermills cost 100,000 coins. There are also playground (Level 29), Water Tank (Level 29), Gazebo (Level 30), Greenhouse (Level 30), Wind Generator (Level 33), and of course the Mansion (Level 34)

FENCES
There are plenty of updates for fences. The ordinay fence now has close and open gates. Same with barb wire, hedge, and stone fences. They now have open and close gates. The developers should have thought of this a long time ago because it looks so funny for our avatars to simply cross the fence (even without jumping off).

PATHS
No updates for paths.

PONDS
This section gets me more excited. We can now put up a river with a bridge in our farm. There's also the big pond that sells for 200,000 coins

OTHERS
Plenty of additions for this section. There's Patio Table, Dog House, Lawn Mower, Mail Box and Grill. Just take your pick and decide what will make your farm even more beautiful.

Wanna be my Farm Town neighbor? Add me up at mars.mosqueda@gmail.com thanks!

Farm Town is Back!!!

Farm Town is Back!!!

Must be the glitches between the Farm Town server and the Facebook Server. I've just logged in a couple of seconds ago (thank God my farm is still intact) and I can say that nothing has changed, of course there are new features that are offered in Farm Town. The flowers are already up (two weeks it says but it has reached more than a month to get working). There are also new structures and gates for your fences.

And to those who heard of rumors about Farm Town getting its way out of Facebook, I don't think that is ever true. Facebook will not let that happen considering that Farm Town is now the leading game application of Facebook, surpassing Pet Society and Mafia Wars.

Thanks everyone for dropping by. I hope you will sign up in our mailing list (see right column) so you can get the latest post from this blog. Thanks again!

Farm Town is down

Farm Town is down

Farm Town was down when I logged in a couple of minutes ago. Technical guys say they are addressing some kinks. Refresh. Wait, I think it's back again. I need to log in now because I have around 300 fields of pumpkins ready for harvest. Don't want them, and my effort, to go to waste.

Hold on. It's still not loading. Hmmm. I don't know if it's my internet connection or the Farm Town server that is having a problem. I hope Farm Town will be back in a few minutes. Will sit down and wait.

(After two minutes...)

Yehey! Farm Town is back....

Happy farming everyone!

Farm Town Facebook Cheats Download

Farm Town Facebook Cheats Download

People seemed to have been searching the web for Farm Town cheats but logged off empty-handed. Let's face it. Who needs cheats for Facebook's Farm Town? The game is designed as a progressive game and only those who are too lazy to "sweat it out" would want an instant status upgrade on Farm Town.

There's just no cheat for Farm Town for now. I say "for now" because I know a few computer experts are now working on codes to extract cheats for Farm Town. I hope that won't happen though because a cheat code would take out the very basic element of the game, which is to work hard - plow, plant, harvest - to improve the level and thus expanding the farm or increasing the coins.

Do you think it would be better to have cheats for Farm Town or not? Leave a comment and let us know what you think...

Some Farm Town Dirty Tricks

Some Farm Town Dirty Tricks

Just like in any other games, online or offline, some Farm Town players are innovating dirty tricks just to get sure coins and status updates. Here are some of the few dirty tricks I've discovered that you should be aware of. Tell your friends to so they won't fall for these dirty strategies.

"Click me twice and I will hire you"
Don't fall for this trick. Instead of you being hired, you will end up hiring the one you double-clicked. This is actually not really that disturbing especially if you really are looking for people to work on your farm. But for those who are saving their farm for their friends, this trick becomes dirty because it will not bring up the hiring option but will instead send the owner of the avatar you double-clicked to work on your farm.

When you see people shouting out this line or something similar like "Please double-click my boots" or "Click on my pants twice so I could pee", tell the other players to be cautious.

Getting hired in a farm that has nothing to harvest
This is employed by dirty players to eliminate competition in the market place. You see, sometimes the market place gets too crowded that we often end up overlapping each other. Some Farm Town farmers send out invitation to work in their farm only to find out that there is nothing in their farm. As part of Farm Town netiquette, please hire people only when you have fields that are ready for harvesting.

Farm Town is a social game. A game of online networking and cooperation. Let us make our Farm Town experience worthwhile by following the rules of the game. If we start to employ dirty tactics or flood the market place with beggings for work, the real purpose of the game will be defeated. Let's just relax, enjoy the game, and see our farm expand to the maximum...

Faceboook Farm Town Tip: How to speed plowing or planting

Faceboook Farm Town Tip: How to speed plowing or planting

I was surprised when a farm visitor told me how come I'm very fast in plowing fields and even planting seeds. I thought everybody already knows the faster way to plow or plant. For those of you whose avatars are taking forever to plow a plot on her/his feet, here is a proven way.

Always start on the right side of your farm. When plowing fields, go to the right most field and start plowing from the top to the bottom. Then move to the left but always start from the top to the bottom. You will notice that your avatar will pop automatically near the field you are plowing. This speeds up the plowing / planting and I have been doing this myself.

Here's a similar tip from one of this blog's readers, Grace Oribhabor

If you have to, delete all your squares, and re plow in an orderly fashion. alway go either upper right to lower left or upper left to lower right for all of your activities (straight lines). It will increase your planting and harvesting time by about 40% or better.

Thanks Grace for emailing me this tip. I hope readers who discover some tricks will also share them here. Simply email me at

How to earn more coins and points in Facebook's Farm Town

How to earn more coins and points in Facebook's Farm Town

Aside from harvesting other farmer's fields or buying coins via your credit card, there is one simple way to earn more coins and more points in Facebook's Farm Town game.

Invite your friends to be your neighbor in Farm Town. The more invite you send, the more chance of getting more neighbors so take time in telling your Facebook friends who also play Farm Town to accept you as their neighbor.

Once you already have neighbors, you can start visiting each of your neighbors' farms. Everytime you visit a neighbor's farm, you will be prompted to do a task (which actually only requires some clicks of the mouse) that will earn you coins and some points to raise your Farming Level.

The tasks include watering the farm or picking up leaves. But these tasks actually is as simple as just clicking the yes or no button on the screen. The tasks give you +6 points and some coins but you will only get 1 task for each neighbor in a span of 24 hours.

Farm Town crops gone to waste...

Farm Town crops gone to waste...

This is one of the realities we Farm Town players have to accept - our crops will go to waste if we don't harvest them on schedule. If you plant a one-day crop, make sure you visit your farm the next day to harvest your crops. If you plant a four-day pumpkin, make sure to get back to your farm in four days to harvest your pumpkins.

And this is one fact that I missed over the weekend. On Friday, I planted one-day crops thinking I'd be able to login to Facebook on Saturday. You see, I went to a small island in the country where I live during the weekend for a government-sponsored tourism activity. With modern technologies, I thought it would be easy for me to connect to the Internet on the island.

But came harvest time, I found out that the island does not have any connection to the Internet at all. My mobile phone, which I usually use as a modem, had no signal and everyone on the island seemed to be unaware of what a wifi or a broadband internet is. And then it hit me. I could not harvest my crops.

Two days later, when I was already in the city, I immediately log-on to Facebook and visited my farm. My strawberries and watermelon fields were still there, but they no longer had their original colors. Instead, my crops were already brown, withered, dead. They all went to waste. What a waste indeed! I spent so much time and effort in plowing and planting but all those time and effort went kaput!

But on the good side, my three-day crops and four-day pumpkins are still very much alive and kicking (hehehehe) and I will have them harvested tomorrow and on Wednesday. If you want to harvest my crops, add me as your neighbor. My facebook email is mars.mosqueda(at)gmail(dot)com.

Thanks for reading everyone!

How to get a harvesting job... and earn more money in Farm Town

How to get a harvesting job... and earn more money in Farm Town

Unless you have plenty of real money to buy coins in Facebook's Farm Town, you will have to go to the marketplace and advertise yourself for a harvesting job. Sometimes you get an offer to harvest a field in just a matter of seconds after entering the marketplace, but most of the time, you will have to wait a longer time before somebody will hire you to work.

"Hire me now", "Please hire me", or "Anyone hiring today". Do these lines sound familiar? Of course, for sure you've used these phrases in the marketplace hoping (not begging huh) to get a
harvesting job to augment your coins.

Here are some tips that I've learned while playing Farm Town:

Don't beg too much. Sometimes other users would tend to ignore you if you keep advertising yourself in the marketplace. Just say it once and wait. You can also dance, by moving your mouse around your avatar, and catch the attention of other users.

Be visible. Stay in a place in the market that will make other users easily spot you. The middle area will be nice but most of the time this is the most occupied portion of the market. Stay some place vacant and transfer to other places if people will start crowding around you.

Tell them your location. If you are standing on the barrels, let them know. If you are around the fruit stand, let them know.

Change market. If some minutes have already passed and you still don't get a job, try changing marketplace. Go back to your farm then click on the map and go to the marketplace. There are different sets of marketplace in Farm Town with different groups of users.

Always be nice. You will be interacting with people of different race, culture, attitude, and character so be nice to everyone if you want to be treated nicely too. Don't spam the market place and avoid repeating your messages.

Farm Town flowers still not available

Farm Town flowers still not available

Until this posting, flowers are still not available at the Farm Town store. It keeps saying that the flowers will be ready in two week's time.
What makes me interested is that the flowers look so colorful and they will, for sure, add color to our farms. There will be a variety of flowers to choose from based on what are currently posted in the store.

Will just wait.

Some Farm Town Avatar issues

Some Farm Town Avatar issues

It is sometimes funny but most of the time irritating. I'm referring to our very own avatar in Facebook's Farm Town. That graphical representative of ours which has big head, huge eyes, and who never gets tired tired plowing and planting crops and trees and tending to other people's farms.

When I started taking out the spaces between my fields, which I discussed in earlier post, planting crops have become a bit of an irritating experience. You see, when I clicked on a field to plant crops and the avatar is just around the next field, sometimes the avatar takes the longest route to arrive at the field just right in front of him.

I remember a friend telling me that her Farm Town avatar is just like her husband's personal driver who takes the longest route to arrive at the nearest destination. Funny but sometimes irritating.

I don't know the reason for this. Maybe the avatar is just looking for the unblocked path especially in fields that have no spaces. I want to get back to the spaced fields but I want to maximize my farm's space. Hmmmm. I think I just have to accept the fact that the avatar is just like that.

And yes, you can change your avatar's gender, color, hair, eyes, nose, eyebrows, lips, mouth form, and etc..

How to remove spaces between fields (Facebook Farm Town Tips)

How to remove spaces between fields (Facebook Farm Town Tips)

Okay. For sure you've started working on a farm with fields that have spaces that separate each field. (see picture above) and you've wondered how to take the space out and layer your fields to maximize your Farm Town space (just like the picture below).

I must admit it took me a while to figure it out. There were even times that I intentionally drag the field when plowing hoping to take out the space. Lately, I realized it is a very simple task. Just click on the preferences button while playing Farm Town. The buttons section is located on the upper right hand of the Farm Town window (see photo below).

When the option window comes out, just check the "Remove Spaces Between Fields" option and presto, your field will have no more spaces, thereby maximing the space of your farm.

Happy farming everyone.

Facebook FarmTown Game Cheats

Facebook FarmTown Game Cheats

If you are one of the thousand Farm Town gamers who are looking for cheats or other "advance easily" tricks, I'm sorry to tell you that you can't find one yet as of this time. Well, except for the coins. You can buy coins for a few dollars (real dollars, I should say) and you can pay online through your credit card.

Going back to the FarmTown cheats, none has been released online yet. But I can tell you some practical tips to make your FarmTown experience worthwhile. First, let another player harvest your crops. That way, the prices of your crops increase by a few coins and you are helping other players earn coins too.

I think the reason for this is that the programmers want to promote social interaction (online interaction) among players... oops my laptop is running out of battery. Will update this post in a few while....

Farm Town on Facebook updates

Farm Town on Facebook updates

Farm Town on Facebook has recently been updated with the entry of new seeds, new buildings, new paths, ponds, and several others.

You can now plant seeds that grow within 4 hours. Wow. Buy grapes seeds for 20 coins and harvest them within 4 hours and earn 56 coins. This one's for those who always are infront of their computer playing the game, eagerly waiting for seeds to be ready for harvest.

New seeds include watermelon (1 day), cabbage (1 day), peas (2 days), onions (3 days), and pumpkin. There are also flowers like zinnia, marigold, crown of thorns, lilies, rose, and tulips, that are still locked and I wonder when will the flowers be available for planting.

Fences are also updated to include barb wire fence, hedge, and stone fence and paths are now available (dirt path and stone path) for 200 coins. Ponds are also available now but at a higher price. A small pond costs 80,000 coins.

I also recently bought a small house (70,000 coins) which is another new feature in the updated game. There is also a farm house (300,000 coins), wood shed, fruit stand, tent, green house, and a mansion.

The new additions become reasons for us Farm Town farmers to work doubly hard to earn coins and purchase new add-ons.

Upgrading Farm's Size in Farm Town

Upgrading Farm's Size in Farm Town

Reached level 15 early today after harvesting potatos that I planted yesterday in my entire farm. That means was able to upgrade the size of my farm by a few square meters. Hoping to reach a few more levels to further upsize my farm.

My friends are telling me how boring Farm Town is. You see, all you have to do is sit infront of your computer. Plow some fields. Plant some seeds. Wait for the seeds to be ready for harvest. Ask another player to harvest your plants. Plow the harvested fields again. Buy some seeds again. Plant some seeds again. Wait for the seeds to grow again. Isn't that game boring?

Yes. By all means, Farm Town is boring. But it's addictive and it has never failed to pull me down to my computer chair everyday for at least an hour. Seeing a farm with fields that are ready to harvest is rewarding. Selling your harvested plants and seeing thousands of coins into your coffers is doubly rewarding.

Yes, Farm Town is boring and it has caught the attention of this boring writer.

Farming at Facebook's Farm Town

I must admit I'm one of those who got easily hooked to Facebook's Farm Town. I never thought the game could bring me to my seat for hours when a friend of mine told me about it. Yes, I've been maintaining a Facebook profile for nearly a year now but no other application has caught my attention than Farm Town.

Prior to my addiction to Farm Town, Sim City has also captured most of my time so it's no surprise that Farm Town has done it to me too. The theme is simple. Just like Sim City, only in Farm Town you get to build a farm and not a city. And it's online and interactive.

You start with a blank farm and a few coins. Then you plow some fields to prepare for the planting. Plowing a field is free. If you want to start planting, you go to the store and buy seeds. Seeds have corresponding number of days to grow and be available for harvesting. Some seeds take only one day to be ready for harvest so you have to get back to Farm Town in the next day to harvest your crops, otherwise, they will wither and die.

Here's an open secret. To make more money with your crops, go to the marketplace and hire another player to harvest the crops for you. This way, you are able to help the player with additional coins and the price of your crops get higher. I don't know why this is so but maybe the developers of the game want more interaction between players. So the more that you hire other farmer to harvest your crops, the more coins you will get.

Of course, the games needs you to have a Facebook account. And if your friends are already on Facebook's Farm Town, you can send gifts of trees or animals to them. In return, they will give you trees or animals too, I can assure you. That again is the spirit of interaction.

I'm now on level 8, a green thumbed farmer, with 1326 points. Some of my crops will be available for harvest tomorrow yet and I'm getting excited at restructing my farm to make it look beautiful, with trees and animals that were given to me by friends.

Try the game. I promise you you'll be hooked to it.
